Written Testimonials

“I chose a retirement community because of my age and my responsibility of owning and up keeping my home. I wanted to live in a community where people have the knowledge and abilities to care for your needs in a respectful manner.”

“I chose Homewood at Martinsburg because the location is desirable, the cottages and apartments are designed to meet your needs for the different stages of life, and the recreation activities and events are designed for everyone.”

“I enjoy the many bus trips taken to different locations in the area (shopping, theater, etc) as well as the seminars offered (insurance related, medical issues, etc.) and the special events (tea tasting, special dinners, etc.).”

“The campus at Homewood at Martinsburg is very well kept and always brings very favorable comments from people visiting me.”

“On Thanksgiving Day this year, my daughter, granddaughter, and I were driving to a restaurant for dinner when we had a small accident. No one was injured, but we missed our Thanksgiving dinner. One of my wonderful neighbors on Diamond Circle brought Thanksgiving dinner to us knowing that we hadn’t eaten. I realized then how lucky I am to be here at Homewood where people’s generosity is so great. What a wonderful community!”

“Homewood at Martinsburg is the most beautiful and inviting retirement community we visited and also offers the most amenities. We chose a retirement community because our yard was too big, our driveway too long, and there were a lot of leaves to rake and snow to shovel. My back was quite painful. The people at Homewood at Martinsburg are great – staff and residents both. There is a happy, friendly atmosphere. The campus is beautiful all year round, with easy accessibility for all activities. We enjoy water volleyball, the cyber lounge, the choir, quilting, the library and the exercise classes Jen offers.”

“My children live out of state and after my handyman became ill, it became difficult to keep up the house. I knew a number of people in the area and had visited a number of retirement communities and felt that Homewood at Martinsburg had more to offer. The pleasant atmosphere, attractive buildings, and helpful attitude of the employees helped me make this choice. My decision to move to Homewood ultimately rested on the sunroom and pool. I live in my sunroom when I am home. I enjoy bible study, exercising in the pool, working in the Country Store and Library, but especially the friendliness of all the residents.”

“I decided to move to a retirement community for the peace of mind and freedom from worry. Moving to Homewood at Martinsburg brought me back to my roots. I enjoy as many activities as I have time for and especially enjoy the informative seminars on health issues. As my children said, “Mom, this is like a private country club!” as we walked the hallways and I pointed out the cyber lounge, café, library, weight room and pool areas. The entire facility is beautiful!”

“After retiring, we no longer wanted the up keep of a house and lawn. We chose Homewood at Martinsburg because it is near relatives and we like the layout of the campus. It is beautiful here and we feel very secure. The staff here is dedicated, very helpful, caring and ready to assist in any way possible.”

“We chose a retirement community because we had reached the appropriate age, for us. We did much research including observing Homewood Continuing Care Retirement Community during different seasons of the year over a period of several years. We were very favorably impressed by the physical facility and by the pleasant, caring attitude of staff with whom we had chatted. We detected an atmosphere of pleasant professionalism and genuine caring.

We have been residents for approximately three years. Time has proven we made the best possible decision when we came to Homewood. The staff has exhibited professionalism and provides personal, caring attention whether in skilled care, assisted living, independent living, dietary (we have an excellent chef and dietary team), grounds and maintenance crews, as well entertainment for various events.

There are so many activities for all levels of care one could literally keep busy 26 hours ☺ each day. Additionally, there is a lovely chapel and vesper services and a multitude of warm, welcoming resident and staff members.”
