Why Benevolent Care Matters

Have you ever wondered why it's important to give to the Homewood Foundation's Benevolent Care Fund?  Here is what Benevolent care has meant to one of our Homewood families...

"My parents, Marvin and Louise King, moved to Homewood at Plum Creek in 2004, having retired to Florida about 15 years earlier. As with many other residents, they lived independently for almost 8 years in one of the cottages before eventually moving on to assisted living and finally to skilled care. Despite considerable savings at the front end, the cost of higher levels of care eventually exhausted their resources. It was then that, through the generosity of the many donors to the Benevolent Care Fund, they were able to remain at Homewood through their remaining years and to receive the excellent and compassionate care for which Homewood is known.

My wife (whose mother, at 96, has been living independently at Homewood for almost 14 years) and I are pleased to now join with those donors to help maintain the Benevolent Care Fund which was critical to my parents being able to "age in place" and, quite frankly, to avoid a significant financial burden when I and my siblings were still paying off mortgages and putting our children through college.

I would encourage all who may have been similarly situated to do what they can to "pay it forward" so that the Fund can continue to grow and to provide the financial security and "peace of mind" that has been so important to our family."
